About Sad Man's Tongue: Rockabilly Bar & Bistro - Prague

We are a Bar and Bistro where old school meets the new school, dedicated to preserving the roots of rock and roll and it's modern adaptations as well as preserving the cultural identity of our neighborhood through our food, the the principles of the slow food movement. A little bit of rockabilly and retro combine with the kustom kulture of today, in an atmosphere devoid of Pretension.

Amen-Today’s cast of ” hot chicks ” by comparison to yesterday’s could pass for 12 year boys, with slight glandular issues.

While I agree with the idea that starving yourself to fit an ideal shape is unhealthy and disturbing, I can’t agree with this meme.

Kiera Knightly, for instance, is an incredibly beautiful woman who is naturally slender and petite. She tends to choose very active roles and trains her body diligently- you can see her abs in the picture above. Even if she was all soft and out of shape, she would still be relatively slender and not have the curves of the vintage ladies on the bottom. That doesn’t make her less attractive, it just means that’s her natural shape. Nicole Richie was ALWAYS a small woman, both in height and weight, but since her marriage and child has put on weight and has admitted to being much happier now that she’s no longer that tiny, mostly because it wasn’t healthy.

Another problem I have with this meme is the difference in sizing today and sizing when these ladies where in popularity. Monroe, for instance, is famously known as a size 16, something several of my friends have told me is something to be proud of. The problem is, Monroe’s measurements are that of a modern size 8, not a modern 16. Her measurements were listed as 35-22-35- not the measurements of a larger woman. The difference is that she had an unnaturally hourglass shape, which made her looks more curvaceous than she was, but the truth of the matter is that she was a HEALTHY woman who knew how to accentuate her body.

(Facts on Monroe come from here:

    http://jezebel.com/5299793/for-the-last-time-what-size-was-marilyn-monroe )

My point is that the only unattractive women up there would be Heidi and Kristen- Heidi because she mutilated her body with all that surgery, and Kristen because she’s rather out of shape and has no definition on her body anywhere. Not because they’re thin, but because they’re unhealthy and project an unhealthy image. If a woman is naturally skinny, or works to stay fit, or happens to be a curvaceous size 18, I find her attractive. As long as she is healthy and happy, that’s all that matters to me, and that’s all that should matter to others as well.

Sorry for the rant, but I’ve gotten bombarded with friends posting this all over Facebook and posting messages against slender women, and frankly it’s really starting to grate on my nerves.
