Reverend Horton Heat plots continental spring and summer tour

Rockabilly revivalists Reverend Horton Heat<!– [ tickets ] have firmed up a half-dozen dates around their Texas hometown, followed by a slew of U.S. and Canadian shows.

The group, led by singer/guitarist Jim Heath, also known as “The Reverend,” will begin the itinerary with a April 12 hometown show in Denton, TX, followed by another five Texas stops. The rockers will then take to the road, beginning with an April 25 performance in Rochester, NY, and running through a Sept. 28 concert in Fort Worth, TX.

The tour kick-off comes just a few weeks before the May 29 release of the documentary concert film, “The Reverend Horton Heat: 25 to Life.” Recorded at San Francisco’s Fillmore Theater in 2010, the DVD features live performance footage, band and crew interviews and more. A bonus package, featuring a live CD and a best-of compilation disc will also be available.

Reverend Horton Heat most recently revealed “Laughin’ and Cryin’ with the Reverend Horton Heat,” their 10th studio effort which surfaced in 2009 on Yep Roc Records.
