Zombie Rockin’ – Festival of the Dead

by World Zombie Day London

Hello the Horde!

There are a few fun-filled zombie events coming up really soon!

The first is a Zombie Parade for the London Sci-Fi Festival, on Sunday the 28th April. Its free to join in, just show up at the Stratford Picturehouse at 2pm in your zombie finery (or un-finery is perhaps more fitting!). You’ll take part in a circular parade route and end up back at the cinema for an after party at the next door Stratford Circus. See the Facebook event for more info.

‘Dead Meat Walking’  is showing on Sat 4th May as part of the Sci-Fi London Festival – a fun and riveting documentary that offers a unique focus on the extraordinary and ghoulish pastime of zombie walks. It features interviews with industry figures including Norman Reedus from The Walking Dead and makeup artist and director Tom Savini. Tickets are only £8.50!

The second event is super exciting – the first ever Zombie Rockin – Festival of the Dead!

Held at the Woolwich Grand Theatre, the event will be split into two halves:

Zombie Rockin’ Today –a kid-friendly daytime schedule packed full of zombie goodness including zombie apocalypse survival training, a haunted house, face painting, a graveyard photo booth and a tea eulogy room with ‘severed finger foods’ and brain cupcakes, as well as eclectic market stalls.

Zombie Rockin’ Tonight – for ages 18+ of the undead community, the evening will feature a screening of the classic Night of the Living Dead with a comedy soundtrack by RiffTrax and comedy, magic and burlesque acts with master of ceremonies Andrew O’Neil. Psychobilly band The Marksmen and DJ Kitty Minx will have the zombie horde shuffling until the wee small hours.

The theme is zombie rockabilly, expect to see some 1950’s pinups back from the grave and maybe a living dead Elvis or two!

Tickets can be purchased for the afternoon section, the evening section or both and are available here. See the Facebook event page for more details.

The festival is sponsored by ‘Film London through National Lottery Funding on behalf of the BFI’. The Woolwich Grand Theatre is a non-profit organisation and proceeds from this event will go back into providing new and exciting future programming, so a worthwhile cause!
